The article describes cultural heritage sites in Bulgaria, under the protection of UNESCO, as database elements that can be used for e-learning.
The learning environment will motivate intellectual inquiry and, through organizing the methods of collecting and managing information, will be created cultural knowledge for existing and new sites, which will be evaluated and promoted. The environment serves the State Educational Standards (SES) of educational content for the cycle Social Sciences and Civic Education. The established database presents structured, scientifically proven and didactically correct knowledge, and is a conceptual framework of how sites can be viewed, perceived and "assembled". For the users (learners) the information about sites is a basis for research and a communication tool. By interpreting the cultural significance of artifacts, they structure information based on the attributes of the database. The features of the sites are a carrier of memorable and enriching information. The meaning is not found only in a specific object, but is created from the interaction between user, message and environment.
This article discusses electronic dictionary as an element of the "Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage under the protection of UNESCO" database developed in IMI (BAS), that will be used to integrate additional learning content. The electronic dictionary is described as an easily accessible book of reference, offering information to the shape, meaning, usage and the origin of words in connection to the cultural-historical heritage sites in Bulgaria, protected by UNESCO. The dictionary targets 9-11-year-old students from Bulgarian schools, who study the subjects "Man and Society" in 4 th grade and "History and Civilization" in 5 th grade.
The article describes an interactive software environment for learning as an accessible tool to supplement the learning content. The environment, under development, is in line with the State Educational Standards (SES) of educational content for the cycle Social Sciences and Civic Education. The E-learning environment uses a database those objects describe Bulgarian architectural heritage under the protection of UNESCO. The project focuses on understanding by design of new learning content and its application to educational courses on the history and culture of Bulgaria.
