ZusammenfassungDer Fall einer Meningoenzephalitis bei einem Hund infolge der systemischen Ausbreitung einer Infektion mit Cryptococcus neoformans wird dargestellt. Der Hund wurde wegen einer Vergrößerung der Lymphknoten im Halsbereich vorgestellt und entwickelte zusätzlich neurologische Symptome, die hinweisend für eine Meningoenzephalitis waren. Die Liquoruntersuchung ergab eine hochgradige Pleozytose mit vorwiegend neutrophilen Granulozyten sowie Kryptokokken. Aufgrund des schlechten Allgemeinzustandes wurde der Hund euthanasiert. Die durchgeführte Sektion und weiterführende Untersuchungen ergaben eine systemische Infektion mit Cryptococcus neoformans. Neben einer hochgradigen granulomatösen Meningoenzephalitis wurden multiple miliare Granulome in Milz, Niere und Lunge mit intraläsional gelegenen Kryptokokken gefunden. Auch in der unveränderten Nasenschleimhaut konnten die Erreger nachgewiesen werden.
