S U M M A R Y For this palaeomagnetic study 199 sites were sampled in the northern part of the East Carpathians (Oag-Ignig-VZiratec-Tibleg sector). After AF (Alternating Field) demagnetization, 155 sites were selected for further analyses. A good agreement between the measured palaeomagnetic poles for the Pontian, the Pannonian and the reference polar wander path of Eurasia was made evident. In the southern part of the IgniS Mountains the Sarmatian volcanic rocks were affected by a 30" counterclockwise rotation with respect to Europe post-emplacement.
