Alcohols Q 0230 Chiral Binuclear Copper(II) Catalyzed Nitroaldol Reaction: Scope and Mechanism. -Aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes undergo asymmetric nitro-aldol reaction with nitromethane in the presence of a chiral binuclear copper catalyst (CBC) to afford the nitro alcohols (III) in up to 52% optical purity. Higher nitroalkanes like nitroethane or 2-nitropropane give inferior results. -(JAMMI, S.; SAHA, P.; SANYASHI, S.; SAKTHIVEL, S.; PUNNIYAMURTHY*, T.; Tetrahedron 64 (2008) 51, 11724-11731; Dep.
