Synthesis and cationic polymerization of a new monomer 4-(oxiran-2-ylmethyl)morpholine (OMM) is reported. The monomer was prepared by the reaction of morpholine with epichlorohydrine followed by treatment with sodium hydroxide. The green polymerization of OMM was performed in bulk under suitable condition at temperature 40 • C using an activated smectite clay catalyst, known as Maghnite-H + (Mag-H + ) as proton source. The products are proven by infrared spectroscopy (IR) as well as by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ( 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR), and characterized by intrinsic viscosity.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
