El objetivo general del estudio fue analizar la aplicación de las tendencias de Web 2.0 como plataforma tecnológica para la innovación en el pensamiento pedagógico docente. Se fundamenta en una investigación de tipo descriptiva con diseño transversal, documental. Para la recolección de la información, se utilizaron registros de fuentes primarias tales como libros y artículos de revistas científicas, haciendo análisis de información a través de lectura de documentos. Se concluye que la utilización de las tendencias que la Web 2.0 ofrece para ser implementadas como herramientas de apoyo en el ámbito educativo son diversas. El entorno lo constituye el internet como una red social, que facilita la participación del estudiante universitario, junto con la reflexión de su experiencia interactiva como formas de acceder al conocimiento como autocrítico, aportando sus ideas de manera libre. Las plataformas virtuales aplicadas en la educación, son implementadas desde un modelo constructivista, donde la cooperación con la interacción se transforma en elementos claves para el aprendizaje autónomo, donde los estudiantes se convierten en protagonistas de su formación desarrollando la independencia de los saberes compartidos. Los entornos virtuales para la docencia universitaria son creados con el propósito de guiar el aprendizaje interactivo, a fin de facilitar la creación de conocimientos por parte de los estudiantes. Cuando se habla de innovación en el pensamiento pedagógico docente, se hace referencia a los cambios necesarios que rompen con el modelo tradicional de la didáctica utilizada, ya que, las transformaciones incluyen prácticas educativas mediadas por la tecnología.
