Este artigo é uma produção que tem como objetivo destacar e evidenciar os principais fundamentos que têm intima relação com a formação docente na área de relações públicas. Com essa preocupação apresentam-se aspectos, fatos e reflexões r elacionados à trajetória, formação e prática pedagógica do profissional e, ao mesmo tempo, discutem-se as possibilidades de o docente de relações públicas aplicar os princípios da competência em informação no cotidiano da era digital. Com as reflexões apresentadas acredita-se que o desafio de envolver novas competências na formação docente em relações públicas, certamente, trará contribuições benéficas, otimizando os diferentes processos que fazem parte dos cursos de relações públicas.
