The Intervertebral Disk Disease (DDIV) thoracolumbar is a relatively common neurological frequently it is described in breeds of chondrodystrophic dogs, whose main clinical alterations the paraparesis, paraplegia, hyperesthesia, vesical repletion, urinary incontinence and loss of the perceptive capacity of deep pain prevail. The treatment of the disease is a subject of great debate among the literatures, once countless clinical and surgical approaches are described. The prognostic of the illness is usually related to the degree of neurological lesion presented by the patient, associate to the therapeutic conduct adopted for each picture. The present report has as objective describes a case of the DDIV thoracolumbar of the type Hansen I in a dog of the breed Lhasa Apso 11 years old. The disease came in a sharp way, being approached initially by the conservative treatment, however, after worsening of the patient's neurological picture, the same was submitted to complementally exams and directed for surgery descompressiva of the spinal channel by the hemilaminectomy technique. The chosen surgical conduct demonstrated success before the presented clinical picture, providing like this the patient's fast recovery and guaranteeing a better life quality later to the same.
Menisci are important intra-articular structures whose main function is attributed to load transmission and impact absorption, reducing biomechanical stress and providing greater osteoarticular stability. In dogs, knee-related disorders are described as the main causes of claudication. This report aims to describe a case of lateral meniscal lesion in a canine without signs of femorotibiopatellar instability, whose main change was claudication. The diagnosis was confirmed through orthopedic evaluation and magnetic resonance imaging, in which an anechogenic line of dissolution of meniscal continuity and intact ligament structures was visualized. As a treatment, the technique of total meniscectomy was chosen, which allowed the recovery of limb function and absence of clinical manifestations.
Perineal urethrostomy in obstructed feline from three months old: Case reportABSTRACT. The present report aims to describe a case of urethra lobstruction in a feline, male, without race defined three months of age. The suspected of a obstructive frame was during anamnesis and physical examination, to which the patient was lethargic, mildde hydration state and distended urinary bladder. After additional tests, were performed three triesurethral probing with intravenous catheter flexible, both failure demonstrating. The patient was referred for surgery, which amputation of the penis, orchiectomy and perineal urethrostomy. However, because of anesthetic complications the patient came to death in virtue of two stops respiratory and two cardio respiratory.
Electrocardiogram is considered a substantial instrument in the clinical evaluation of patients with heart disease. This tool can be used to determine the origin and frequency of the impulse as well as the cardiac conduction disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency and type of electrocardiographic abnormalities in the immediate preoperative period of 60 dogs seen in the surgery department of the Veterinary Hospital of Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná -PUCPR, campus Toledo, between September 2015 and June 2017, and to analyze its correlation with the different breeds, sex, age, and weight of each patient. Alterations in the preoperative electrocardiogram have been shown to be frequent and their occurrence is independent of age, breed, size, and sex of the animal. The most frequent findings in the present study were the following: respiratory sinus arrhythmia (30%), atrial fibrillation (16,7%), sinus tachycardia (10%), increase in R wave amplitude (10%), and ST segment depression (10%). Therefore, electrocardiography proved to be an auxiliary diagnostic method of great relevance in the dogs' preoperative period, guaranteeing greater anesthesia safety and lower risks of cardiovascular complications. Keywords: anesthetic safety; cardiac conduction; electrocardiogram. Desta maneira, a eletrocardiografia 2
