Objetivo: analizar los principales factores asociados al comercio informal en el mercado Ráez Patiño, Huancayo, 2018. Método: se recurrió al método científico, y deductivo; el enfoque metodológico fue cuantitativo, investigación de tipo básico, nivel descriptivo y explicativo y diseño no experimental transversal; la muestra estuvo conformada por 185 comerciantes informales de los alrededores del mercado Ráez Patiño, de la cual se recolectó información a través de un cuestionario. Conclusiones: el comercio informal en diversos contextos de Latinoamérica y el Perú, como en Huancayo y específicamente en los alrededores del mercado Ráez Patiño, está asociado sobre todo a factores sociales y económicos; entre los primeros se identificaron: el bajo nivel de instrucción, la migración y el desempleo; entre los segundos: la poca inversión de capital económico, el deseo de lograr independencia económica (en el caso de las mujeres) y la necesidad de colaborar con el ingreso económico familiar.
