En este artículo hacemos una lectura crítica del documento «Estándares básicos de competencias en lenguas extranjeras: inglés» (MEN 2006). Nos motiva el hecho de creer en la importancia y necesidad de reflexionar acerca de las políticas educativas nacionales en el marco de las transformaciones políticas, económicas y culturales propias de la internacionalización o globalización. Nos interesa evaluar si existe una coherencia conceptual y pedagógica en el documento o si se trata de otra propuesta inmediatista que responde a una coyuntura actual.
Ubicadas en la investigación etnográfica y haciendo uso del método biográfico, realizamos un análisis temático de un conjunto de relatos escritos por estudiantes que narran en inglés sus historias de acceso a la escritura. El análisis revela los siguientes temas y ofrece elementos para su discusión: procesos de alfabetización académica, escrituras femeninas, lecturas y mediaciones, reconocimientos y censuras en torno a la escritura, géneros discursivos y niveles de escolaridad. Es nuestro propósito con este artículo recorrer las historias que construyeron un grupo de estudiantes al narrarse como escritoras y escritores para intentar así comprender cómo han ido insertándose dentro de una cultura escrita académica.
En este artículo exploramos el vínculo con la escritura de un grupo de profesores adscritos a programas de licenciaturas en artes. En datos recolectados a través de entrevistas a profundidad, analizamos su autopercepción como escritores, las imágenes y funciones que atribuyen a la escritura universitaria y las creencias que tienen sobre su enseñanza y aprendizaje. Aunque en los resultados sobresale una apropiación fuerte y positiva de la escritura —entendida como práctica ligada al quehacer docente, con funciones de carácter epistemológico, profesional y personal— esto no se traduce en actitudes favorables hacia su enseñanza. Concluimos que la didáctica de la escritura en las licenciaturas en artes necesita de una intervención urgente, en el marco de una política institucional, que asegure su presencia a lo largo de la formación y que se formule teniendo en cuenta el lenguaje de las artes y sus prácticas, que se reflejan en modos particulares de escribir.
