The PM10 prediction has received considerable attention due to its harmful effects on human health. Machine learning approaches have the potential to predict and classify future PM10 concentrations accurately. Therefore, in this study, three machine learning algorithms—namely, decision tree (DT), boosted regression tree (BRT), and random forest (RF)—were applied for the prediction of PM10 in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The results from these three methods were compared to find the best method to predict PM10 concentration for the next day by using the maximum daily data from January 2002 to December 2017. To this end, 80% of the data were used for training and 20% for validation of the models. The performance measure of the PM10 concentration was based on accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and precision for RF, BRT, and DT, respectively, which indicates that these three models were developed effectively, and they are applicable in the prediction of other atmospheric environmental data. The best model to use in predicting the next day’s PM10 concentration classification was the random forest classifier, with an accuracy of 98.37, sensitivity of 97.19, specificity of 99.55, and precision of 99.54, but the result of the boosted regression tree was substantially different from the RF model, with an accuracy of 98.12, sensitivity of 97.51, specificity of 98.72, and precision of 98.71. The best model can assist local governments in providing early warnings to people who are at risk of acute and chronic health consequences from air pollution.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a one of the fastest growing and most beneficial technologies being adopted by businesses today. One of the important issues is localization of items in a warehouse or business premise and to keep track of the said items, it requires devices which are costly to deploy. This is because many readers need to be placed in a search space. In detecting an object, a reader will only report the signal strength of the tag detected. Once the signal strength report is obtained, the system will compute the coordinates of the RFID tags based on each data grouping. In this paper, algorithms using genetic algorithm, particle swarm, ant colony optimization are proposed to achieve the shortest path for an RFID mobile reader, while covering full search area. In comparison, for path optimization, the mobile reader traverses from one node to the next, moving around encountered obstacles in its path.  The tag reading process is iterative, in which the reader arrives at its start point at the end of each round. Based on the shortest path, an algorithm that computes the location of items in the search area is used. The simulation results show that the ACO method works more effectively and efficiently compare to others when solving shortest path problems.

In early 2020, the world was shocked by the outbreak of COVID-19. World Health Organization (WHO) urged people to stay indoors to avoid the risk of infection. Thus, more people started to shop online, significantly increasing the number of e-commerce users. After some time, users noticed that a few irresponsible online retailers misled customers by hiking product prices before and during the sale, then applying huge discounts. Unfortunately, the "discounted" prices were found to be similar or only slightly lower than standard pricing. This problem occurs because users were unable to monitor product pricing due to time restrictions. This study proposes a Web application named PriceCop to help customers' monitor product pricing. PriceCop is a significant application because it offers price prediction features to help users analyse product pricing within the next day; thus, it can help users to plan before making purchases. The price prediction model is developed by using Linear Regression (LR) technique. LR is commonly used to determine outcomes and used as predictors. Least Squares Support Vector Machine (LSSVM) and Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) are used as a comparison to evaluate the accuracy of the LR technique. LSSVM-ABC was initially proposed for stock market price predictions. The results show the accuracy of pricing prediction using LSSVM-ABC is 84%, while it is 62% when LR is employed. ABC is integrated into SVM to optimize the solution and is responsible for the best solution in every iteration. Even though LSSVM-ABC predicts product pricing more accurately than LR, this technique is best trained using at least a year's worth of product prices, and the data is limited for this purpose. In the future, the dataset can be collected daily and trained for accuracy.
