O SARS-CoV-2 faz parte do grupo familiar do betacoronavírus, responsável pelos maiores índices de morbimortalidade na população. Em março de 2020 o mundo entrou em estado de emergência devido a pandemia pelo betacoronavírus que ocasiona a doença Covid-19, por isso há a busca de terapêuticas eficazes para o controle da pandemia. A apitoxina vem despertando interesse pela possibilidade da sua utilização na modulação do sistema imunológico na inativação de vírus. Nesse sentido, o projeto de pesquisa teve como objetivo principal analisar o uso da apitoxina como uma ferramenta auxiliar na profilaxia da infecção ocasionada pelo SARS-CoV-2. A apitoxina foi obtida de abelhas pertencentes à espécie Apis Mellifera, por meio de choque elétrico. Na execução dos ensaios foram utilizados ratos pertencentes a espécie Wistar, com aproximadamente 350g de peso e todos da mesma linhagem. Utilizou-se 15 animais nos experimentos. A dose de apitoxina inoculada nos animais foi 30 μg/mL A coleta do sangue nos animais foi realizada em triplicata randomicamente, nos intervalos de tempo de 7, 14, 21 e 28 dias. Os testes sorológicos foram realizados pelo método imunocromatográfico para o SARS-CoV-2. Os resultados demonstraram a produção de IgM anti- SARS-CoV-2, nos intervalos de tempo em que foram feitas as coletas do sangue dos animais. Portanto, a apitoxina na concentração utilizada, de fato induziu a produção de anticorpos pertencentes a classe IgM contra o SARS-CoV-2 em modelos animais e pode ser utilizada como uma ferramenta auxiliar na modulação do sistema imune, contra o vírus que ocasiona a Covid-19.
