Unit 731 (1936‐1945) was a biological and chemical weapons research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that used live human subjects for experiments. The Unit conducted field tests of the bioweapons developed from human research on Chinese civilians, which resulted in many civilian casualties, and also planned to attack the United States with the bioweapons.
