Zusammenfassung. Die Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-/Hyperaktivitätsstörung (ADHS) ist eine Störung der neuronalen und mentalen Entwicklung des Kindes- und Jugendalters. In vielen Fällen persistiert die Störung jedoch bis in das Erwachsenenalter. Die Störung ist neben den Kernsymptomen Aufmerksamkeitsstörung, Impulsivität und Hyperaktivität bzw. innere Unruhe auch von Störungen der Affektregulation und der exekutiven Funktionen gekennzeichnet. Daher zeigen Patient_innen Funktionseinschränkungen in sämtlichen Lebensbereichen und haben ein höheres Risiko für die Entwicklung komorbider Störungen. Die deutsche S3-Leitlinie „Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-/Hyperaktivitätsstörung (ADHS) im Kindes-, Jugend- und Erwachsenenalter“ empfiehlt die Kombination medikamentöser und psychosozialer Interventionen zur Behandlung der Patient_innen. Für den Bereich des Erwachsenenalters konnten in kontrollierten Studien besonders verhaltenstherapeutische Behandlungskonzepte positive Effekte hinsichtlich der Kompensation funktioneller Beeinträchtigungen im Alltag und der Reduktion komorbider Affekt- und Angststörungen aufzeigen.
