Abstract:The aim of this study was the physical chemical characterization of chicken eggshell and its utilization for the calcium carbonate and oxide calcium production. These substances are important by society and industrial processes, because they can be used in the building, power supplement and soil nutrients. Techniques as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Thermogravimetric (TG) were used by sample characterization. These techniques enabled the study of surface and morphology of eggshell and the thermal behavior of the samples. Qualitative and quantitative tests were done. Procedures involving the CaCO 3 purification and the CaO production were studied. This work showed that the eggshell could be an important source to CaCO 3 and CaO production. Keywords: Eggshell; characterization; CaO; CaCO 3 .
