En este artículo se presenta un análisis cuantitativo de la protesta social televisada por el noticiero local - Telediario, Canal 13 de Río Cuarto, de Córdoba - Argentina, para dar cuenta de manera general de lo que se podría llamar las presencias y las ausencias más evidentes y notorias de la “realidad” que se muestra en las pantallas; imágenes que distan de devolver, a modo de espejo, lo que sucede delante de las cámaras que registran los hechos y de los micrófonos que dejan escuchar solo algunas voces.
Las protestas sociales, concebidas como acciones colectivas por las cuales se reivindican ciertos derechos, suelen encontrar su amplificación en los medios de comunicación, a cuyas reglas, sin embargo, deben someterse. Asimismo, en la recepción operan múltiples variables que cierran el sentido del discurso televisado. Este trabajo se enfoca en el momento del consumo de la protesta mediatizada, intenta identificar los significados que ella adquiere, particularmente en torno al complejo juego entre los derechos en jaque, los derechos mediatizados y las interpretaciones que de todo ello surge en la audiencia.
