Este trabalho faz parte de uma pesquisa do Mestrado Acadêmico em Educação em Ciências na Amazônia. Na busca de refletir sobre o currículo com um olhar no ensino de Ciências em uma escola ribeirinha do contexto amazônico, em Parintins, AM, seguimos em um estudo de perspectiva qualitativa, visando o ensino em um território de ocupações e tensões. Os autores que fundamentaram a produção foram Moreira (2013), Silva (2010), Freire (2019), Lopes (2011), Arroyo (2013), Chassot (2010) entre outros. Os resultados apresentam o contexto histórico de um grupo social, protagonista de sua construção social na busca por um ensino articulado aos seus costumes. Esses fatos ocorreram na constituição de uma comunidade entre as águas e as florestas de um assentamento do Baixo Amazonas. Evidenciamos que as reflexões apresentadas nesse texto, apontam a necessidade do entendimento sobre as construções históricas no lugar da escola, sobretudo no ensino de Ciências, dinâmica essa que corrobora com uma prática docente preocupada em contextualizar as especificidades locais, valorizando as condições de vida dos estudantes que crescem em uma constante relação com a natureza.
