A hipertensão arterial sistêmica (HAS) e o diabetes mellitus(DM) são doenças crônicas não transmissíveis que evidenciam enormes problemas de saúde no Brasil, pelas suas elevadas prevalências, e os fatores de risco associados às doenças cardiovasculares levando à diminuição na qualidade e expectativa de vida da população, demonstrado elevadas taxas de morbidade e mortalidade e custos sociais e econômicos decorrentes do uso de serviços de saúde. Diante disto, faz-se necessário a importância do conhecimento da prevenção dessas doenças e de suas complicações. Este trabalho teve como objetivo determinar a prevalência de hipertensão e diabetes entre os trabalhadores da indústria de Vitória da Conquista, Bahia. Foi realizado um estudo de delineamento transversal, de natureza descritiva com abordagem quantitativa, a coleta dos dados amostrais foi realizada no ambulatório do SESI (Serviço Social da Indústria) de Vitória da Conquista. A população do estudo foi constituída de 150 pacientes. Foram analisados o perfil sociodemográfico, a prevalência de hipertensão, o perfil glicêmico e a prevalência de hipertensão e diabetes associadas. Os resultados obtidos permitiram identificar que houve uma predominância do sexo masculino, 122 indivíduos de 18 - 63 anos de idade e 28 indivíduos do sexo feminino, com 22 - 53 anos de idade. Em relação a prevalência de hipertensão foi possível verificar que 6 homens e 4 mulheres são hipertensos, e 140 trabalhadores apresentavam níveis pressóricos normais. Já em relação ao perfil glicêmico, apenas 1 mulher e 27 homens apresentam glicemia em jejum alterada. Destaca-se que nenhum dos participantes tinham hipertensão e diabetes associadas. Conclui-se que há a necessidade de fortalecer as medidas de prevenção e ações de monitoramento de saúde dos portadores de hipertensão e diabetes, a fim de proporcionar melhor qualidade de vida à população e evitar o aparecimento de complicações crônicas associadas à essas doenças.
