Seit Jahren schon zeichnet sich die Reihe "Bulgarien-Jahrbuch" durch eine große thematische Bandbreite und fundierte Beiträge angesehener deutscher und bulgarischer Wissenschaftler aus, die den an Bulgarien interessierten Lesern immer wieder neue Einblicke in seinen Alltag, seine Geschichte und Kultur, Wirtschaft und Politik gewähren. Dabei bezieht die Themenvielfalt ihren Reiz vor allem auch aus der Berücksichtigung scheinbar "abseitiger" Fragestellungen, die neugieriges Interesse weckenselbst dann noch, wenn man sich für einen Bulgarien-Experten halten mag. Vor Ihnen liegt ein Buch, das wie seine Vorgängerausgaben eine bunte Vielfalt interessanter Themen diverser Wissenschaftsgebiete im Bulgarien-Kontext beleuchtet. Es richtet sein Augenmerk in diesem Jahr vor allem auf Naturwissenschaften und Technik, Archäologie, kultur-und sozialwissenschaftliche Fragestellungen, Literatur-, Sprach-und andere Geisteswissenschaften. Die Rubriken "Aktuelles" und "Personalia" lassen uns Leser darüber hinaus an der jahresaktuellen Arbeit der Deutsch-Bulgarischen Gesellschaft teilhaben. Wenn wir im Erscheinungsjahr dieses Jahrbuches auf "25 Jahre Mauerfall" zurückblicken, sollten wir uns in Erinnerung rufen, was einst war und was seit 1989 in unseren Ländern geschehen ist. Die vielfältigen Veränderungen, vor allem in gesellschaftspolitischer Hinsicht, haben auch zu einer Vertiefung der Kenntnis der Menschen übereinander und ihre europäischen Herkunftsländer beigetragen, die sich zuvor aus ideologischen Gründen fremd waren oder sich zumindest zeitweise entfremdet hatten. Seit der Maueröffnung ist allerdings eine stärkere Zugewandtheit und Aufgeschlossenheit vieler Menschen ost-und südosteuropäischer Länder gegenüber dem Westen, insbesondere Deutschland, zu verzeichnen, als es umgekehrt leider nach wie vor der Fall ist. Die Reihe "Bulgarien-Jahrbuch" der Deutsch-Bulgarischen Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und Bulgarien e.V. bemüht sich seit Jahren sehr engagiert, dieses Ungleichgewicht in der gegenseitigen Wahrnehmung aufzuheben und Leser aus deutschsprachigen Ländern für Bulgarien und seine Vielfalt zu interessieren und zu gewinnen. Insofern ist diesem Jahrbuch eine große Leserschaft und Verbreitung und Ihnen, liebe Leserin und lieber Leser, viel Vergnügen und Erkenntnisgewinn bei der Lektüre dieses Bandes zu wünschen.
