In this paper, we discuss the dimension of interval orders having a representation using n different interval lengths, and the dimension of interval orders which has a representation using length in [1, r].
Let the product of t chains of equal size be called a t-dimensional grid. The main contribution of this paper is the following theorem: For every t-dimensional grid P there exists a (larger) t-dimensional grid Q such that if we color every comparability of Q with one of r colors, then there is a subposet P ′ of Q such that P ∼ = P ′ , and every comparability of P ′ is of the same color. We prove other related theorems for graphs, and a variation of our main tool: the Product Ramsey Theorem.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
