Confrontés à des crises alimentaires récurrentes, nombre d'États africains au Sud du Sahara sont à la recherche de modèles de développement agricole capables d'aider à en réduire durablement la fréquence. Le débat idéologique sur le choix de modèles agricoles n'est certes pas nouveau, mais s'est amplifié avec le développement de crises alimentaires plus complexes et plus difficiles à anticiper. Le regain d'intérêt pour l'activité agricole pose, certes, des questions techniques mais recouvre surtout des choix politiques et sociétaux importants (privilégier les producteurs ou les consommateurs, les agricultures familiales vivrières ou les filières agro-industrielles). Plus fondamentalement, ce sont aussi les « manières » de gérer les ressources et de gouverner les hommes et donc d'élaborer et d'appliquer les politiques qui sont posées : doit-on décréter des modèles agricoles en s'appuyant sur des analyses expertes ou construire des politiques territorialisées avec un panel élargi d'acteurs locaux ? Quels que soient les modèles à promouvoir, ils devront prendre en compte la diversité des besoins et des usages comme l'hétérogénéité des risques, des potentialités et des savoirs, afin de tirer les leçons des initiatives passées, souvent imposées et importées, mais, plus encore, de ne pas obérer les trajectoires futures. Plusieurs schémas d'évolution vers les modèles souhaités sont possibles. Toutefois, leur réussite dépendra autant de la prise en compte des contextes locaux que de la capacité à les faire évoluer dans un monde incertain et aléatoire.
Les forêts sacrées du village de Koupéla, situées dans la région du Centre Ouest du Burkina Faso, sont pâturées par le cheptel herbivore domestique. La présente étude évalue la productivité des herbacées fourragères des forêts sacrées. Deux sites expérimentaux situés dans une dépression et sur un glacis sont comparés à un autre sur jachère comme témoin. Conduite selon la méthode des points quadrats, l'étude a permis d'effectuer dans les parcours (i) un relevé floristique de la végétation herbacée, (ii) une évaluation de la phytomasse épigée. Il a été identifié par cet inventaire floristique 101 espèces sur les 3 sites de relevés. Les Poacées ont eu une meilleure contribution spécifique (CS) dans toutes les unités de pâturage. Spécifiquement, la zone sacrée compte un grand nombre d'herbacées pérennes dont Andropogon gayanus, Andropogon ascinodis. Cymbopogon giganteus et Cymbopogon schoenanthus. La biomasse nette épigée des herbacées est évaluée à 4029,76 kg/ha en moyenne pour les forêts sacrées contre 2195,25 kg/ha pour la jachère. La capacité de charge en saison pluvieuse est estimée à 2,50 UBT/ha/ pour la dépression contre 1,17 UBT/ha pour la jachère. La présente étude suggère des évaluations complémentaires du potentiel fourrager global du terroir afin de proposer une meilleure formule de gestion des ressources fourragères de ces forêts sacrées.
L'Association des amis des Cahiers Agricultures (AMICA) : ensemble pour l'avenir de la revue Chers auteurs, lecteurs et relecteurs, amis et sympathisants des Cahiers Agricultures, Afin d'accompagner et de soutenir la relance des Cahiers Agricultures engagée en 2013, une organisation à vocation scientifique et technique est née le 9 juin 2015. Il s'agit de l'Association des amis des Cahiers Agricultures (AMICA). La naissance de ce bébé traduit l'engagement de vous tous, votre vision partagée sur la raison d'être des Cahiers Agricultures et surtout sa contribution à l'édification d'une communauté scientifique réellement engagée pour le développement. S'affichant résolument comme un outil d'accompagnement à la réalisation des objectifs des Cahiers Agricultures, l'AMICA souhaite apporter sa modeste contribution à toute réflexion concernant l'avenir de la revue, mais aussi oeuvrer pour son ancrage international et pour promouvoir son co-pilotage par les institutions du Sud. Pour ce faire, l'Association a, entre autres, la volonté de s'investir dans la durée pour la promotion de la revue et le lobbying en sa faveur, notamment en contribuant à la formation d'un large consortium d'institutions de recherche-développement, d'enseignement supérieur et d'appui au développement, à même de soutenir durablement les Cahiers Agricultures ; mais aussi d'oeuvrer au rayonnement international de la revue en favorisant l'engagement et l'implication d'une gamme diversifiée d'acteurs, d'auteurs, de relecteurs, etc. L'Association ambitionne surtout de constituer un réseau d'expertise sur la formation en rédaction scientifique et d'aide-tutorat pour accompagner la rédaction d'articles au profit des doctorants et des chercheurs débutants, en particulier ceux du Sud. Notre conviction est que ce maillon-clé d'initiation et d'apprentissage à la rédaction scientifique demeure capital pour une production scientifique de qualité et pour le rayonnement de la revue. L'ambition portée par l'AMICA est réalisable, mais votre mobilisation et votre adhésion massive à l'Association constituent l'élément déterminant et l'énergie nécessaire à sa concrétisation. Les adhésions sont ouvertes depuis début 2016 et les demandes peuvent être adressées à amica.caa@gmail.com. Dans l'attente de vos futures adhésions, nous voudrions vous réitérer nos sincères remerciements pour avoir décidé de porter solidairement ce rêve. Pour l'AMICA, les Cahiers Agricultures sont une oeuvre collective et d'utilité partagée pour tous les acteurs du Nord comme du Sud ; c'est donc ensemble que nous pouvons lui donner un meilleur avenir.
