The new procedures in psychiatric treatment and the creation of the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) has changed the patterns related to mental health care. Investigation on how one can ensure that appropriate care is delivered is necessary. So, the present study aims to present the interventions held by psychologists working at Centros de Atenção Psicossocial (CAPS) and how they measure the impact of treatments on population mental health. Thirty one psychologists were interviewed and the results indicated that they use, as indicators, the internal resources of the patient, acceptance of the treatment, social responses and group discussion. But no consistent criteria were found among the professionals and further studies are needed to establish them.
