A água doce usada para consumo humano advém das represas, rios, lagos, açudes e reservas subterrâneas que, depois de tratada tornando-se potável, é armazenada em reservatórios de distribuição e, por meio de uma rede canalizada, é então destinada à população. A cidade que serviu como referência para este estudo, encontra-se no Sul fluminense e conta com uma estação de tratamento de água (ETA) que atende aproximadamente 76.000 habitantes. Neste contexto, o presente trabalho teve por objetivo apontar potenciais riscos químicos na operação da Estação de Tratamento de Água, de acordo com a NR 15. Para tal, nesta pesquisa estudou-se as condições de trabalho e procedimentos de segurança dos funcionários na referida Estação de Tratamento de Água, relacionados aos riscos químicos e possíveis acidentes ao manusear-se tais produtos que são incorporados nas etapas do processo a fim de garantir os parâmetros de qualidade exigidos pela legislação. No que diz respeito à saúde e segurança do trabalhador, as Normas Regulamentadoras da Secretaria do Trabalho do Ministério da Economia foram utilizadas, visto que as mesmas fornecem as diretrizes que garantem a integridade do trabalhador. Por meio deste estudo, pode-se concluir que implantando-se as Normas Regulamentadoras torna-se possível melhor identificar os riscos químicos, determinar o tempo de exposição dos trabalhadores aos produtos químicos bem como os corretos EPI’s a serem utilizados de forma a garantir a segurança dos trabalhadores da referida estação de tratamento de água.
