KATA KUNCI ABSTRAK CBCT, Kista Radikular, MandibulaPendahuluan: Kista radikular merupakan kista yang paling umum terjadi pada rongga mulut yang berkaitan erat dengan terjadinya nekrosis pulpa dan infeksi yang terjadi pada saluran akar gigi. Kasus dan Penatalaksanaan: Laki-laki berusia 49 tahun datang ke praktek dokter gigi mengeluhkan pembengkakan disertai nyeri pada rahang kirinya, untuk melihat keadaan tersebut dokter gigi merujuk pasien ke laboratorium radiologi untuk dilakukan pemeriksaan radiografis 3D (CBCT). Dari gambaran CBCT gambaran lesi radiolusen berbatas jelas terkortikasi, bentuk oval, terletak di apikal gigi 35-36 disertai resorpsi akar, destruksi batas kanalis mandibularis dan batas kortikal bukal. Kista radikular merupakan kista inflamasi yang berkembang dari sisa sel epitelium malassez pada ligamen periodontal dari hasil inflamasi yang berasal dari gigi non vital. Laporan kasus ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan karakteristik klinis dan radiologis dari kista radikular. Simpulan: Pemeriksaan radiologis seperti pencitraan CBCT menunjukan perluasan dari lesi kista radikular yang berukuran cukup besar sehingga sangat berperan untuk penegakan diagnosa dan rencana perawatan dari kista radikular.
Background: Bitewing radiography is a technique that depicts the crown of the maxillary and mandibular teeth and the crest of the alveolar bone in the same receptor. The use of film holders and paper loops in bitewing techniques is very helpful in standardising radiographs, but it has some disadvantages, including the lack of efficiency and discomfort. Therefore, silicone has been widely used in the medical field as a replacement for paper loops. Purpose: This study was conducted to describe the compatibility of the silicone material as an alternative for bitewing radiography. Methods: This research is experimental and a one-shot case study. It used the Mann–Whitney (P < 0.05) test for statistical analysis to compare the results of the radiographs using silicone loops and paper loops and to analyse the quality of each radiograph: object coverage, density, contrast, sharpness, geometry, and overlapping. Results: The images where silicone loops were used show adequate results in six radiograph quality assessments. There was no significant difference between the radiographs that were obtained using the silicon loop and the paper loop (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Silicone loops can be an alternative tool for bitewing radiography because they result in optimal image quality.
The availability of X-rays in dentistry may help visualize the stage of development of dental maturity. The high prevalence of malocclusion in a population and contradictory research results on dental maturation in each skeletal malocclusion encourage the authors to know the maturity pattern of the posterior mandibular teeth in each skeletal relation and the difference in women and men. A cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample size of 214 panoramic and cephalometric radiographs from skeletal malocclusion patients based on ANB angle (class I: 73, class II: 75, class III: 56) with an age ranging from 8 to16 years old. Maturation of the second premolar and second molar was assessed using Demirjian method. Statistical analysis used the non-parametric Kruskal Wallis test to show the difference in maturity patterns in each class of skeletal relations and Mann Whitney test to show the difference in females’ and males’ maturity patterns. There were significant differences in females and males dental maturity patterns in which female dental maturation was advanced than male. Differences in each skeletal relationare not significant.
