In this paper, we present a new design method of model following digital PID controller for multivariable system. The dynamic characteristic of the system is expressed by the step response of the system, then the optimal PID parameter which minimizes the error integral of the step response between the control system and reference model is obtained by using the matrix computation. The derived algorithm can be implemented through a simple and systematically applied to the PI, I-PD, PI-PD type controller. We show a numerical simulation result by the propose method and apply the method to a temperature control system to show the effectiveness.
A method of determination of the weighting matrix of the quadratic performance index and a method of design of an optimal deadbeat control system are discussed. First, the relationship between the weighting matrix of the quadratic performance index and the extra poles of the overparametrized pulse transfer function model is indicated. Next, a method of design of an optimal deadbeat control system is explained. Lastly, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, some numerical examples are presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
