According to statistic data, machinery faults contribute to largest proportion of High-voltage circuit breaker failures, and traditional maintenance methods exist some disadvantages for that issue. Therefore, based on the wavelet packet decomposition approach and support vector machines, a new diagnosis model is proposed for such fault diagnoses in this study. The vibration eigenvalue extraction is analyzed through wavelet packet decomposition, and a four-layer support vector machine is constituted as a fault classifier. The Gaussian radial basis function is employed as the kernel function for the classifier. The penalty parameter c and kernel parameter δ of the support vector machine are vital for the diagnostic accuracy, and these parameters must be carefully predetermined. Thus, a particle swarm optimizationsupport vector machine model is developed in which the optimal parameters c and δ for the support vector machine in each layer are determined by the particle swarm algorithm. The validity of this fault diagnosis model is determined with a real dataset from the operation experiment. Moreover, comparative investigations of fault diagnosis experiments with a normal support vector machine and a particle swarm optimization back-propagation neural network are also implemented. The results indicate that the proposed fault diagnosis model yields better accuracy and efficiency than these other models.
Transmission mechanism is one of the most important parts of the Ultra-High Voltage (UHV) circuit breaker. It has specific characteristics such as fast response, high speed, and heavy load in the processes of open and close actions. This paper studies the effects of multiple clearances on the working characteristics of transmission mechanism system, especially the motion of its journal center path during operation. It builds a nonlinear kinetic model of transmission mechanism considering the system energy losses due to the impact and friction between the journal and bearing inside clearance joints. Also, an experimental platform is built to measure the displacement and velocity of the moving contact. The results show that the existence of 15 clearance joints in our mechanism system can cause hysteresis effects on the velocity and acceleration of the moving contact, as well as its acceleration fluctuation. Meanwhile, the increase of friction coefficient will stabilize the dynamic characteristic. In addition, both the experimental and simulation results indicate that the motion of the journal center, which is unevenly distributed along the circle, is characterized by three phases: free flight motion, contact motion, and impact motion.
Joint clearance is unavoidable in the revolute joint of multi-link mechanism. Excessive value of joint clearance generally leads to the noise, vibration, and fatigue failure. In this paper, a multi-link articulated mechanism system with three revolute clearance joints is selected as the study object. At first, its ideal motion equations and dynamic responses without joint clearance are outlined. Then an experimental rig is set up, and the acceleration responses of the mechanism in different scenarios are investigated. Comparative analysis indicates that in the presence of joints clearance, clear periodic transient impacts appear in the acceleration outputs while this mechanism moves to specific positions, and the impacts amplitude increases along with the clearance size and driving speed. Also, certain sequence among three motion states of clearance joint, named free flight, penetration and continuous-contact is observed twice in one circle movement of the mechanism. Besides, the clearance joint at the end of the transmission chain has greater effects on the mechanism system than the other joints. Finally, flexible rubber sleeves are set into the clearance joints, and the obtained experimental results indicate that the undesired transient impact by clearance joints on the mechanical system can be suppressed by flexible sleeves.
