and understanding the plastic surgery residency application process following the event (p<0.001). Students were significantly more comfortable identifying resources in plastic surgery education and identifying at least 3 mentors in the field following the event (p<0.001). Students showed significant improvement in the post PREPPED assessment in all subspecialties (p<0.05) except for the hand category, which trended towards improvement but was not significant (p=0.10)
CONCLUSION:The PREPPED program is a promising avenue to improve recruitment of UIM students into plastic surgery. Further investigation as well as future PREPPED events will elucidate how this program may be effective in improving sub-internship performance and match outcomes.
PURPOSE:Many studies have evaluated the cost-effectiveness of treatment modalities for Dupuytren Disease (DD). Yet, no studies have compared the reimbursement rates of these treatments. We aim to explore direct financial impact on the healthcare providers associated with different DD treatments.METHODS: This is a cost analysis from a single tertiary care hospital. Cost data on charge and reimbursement of treatment associated with DD was retrieved from four different insurance companies: Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), UnitedHealthCare (UHC), and Aetna. We used CPT codes to identify treatment procedures for DD, including percutaneous needle aponeurotomy (PNA), open fasciotomy (OF), palmar fasciectomy (PF), single finger fasciectomy (SF), multi-finger fasciectomy (MF), and collagenous clostridium histolyticum (CCH) injection.
