A theoretical derivation to estimate the intensity of X-ray produced by nuclear beta ray excitation in pure or complex specimens is described. The purpose of the article presented is to presume the availability of radioactive beta ray source by nuclear data for analytical applications without the need of experimental process that is often subtle or difficult. The approach is verified by experimental demonstrations using a Pm-147 source and a thin NaI scintillation detector for analyzing binary alloys with the illustration of nondispersive X-ray spectroscopy.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
