Knowledge management has gained increased attention recently, as many researchers have revealed its significant roles on enhancing organisational performance. This study aims to examine the relationship between knowledge management and organisational performance in the context of Malaysia. Knowledge management was conceptualised as capabilities made up of knowledge acquisition, knowledge conversion, knowledge application, and knowledge protection. One hundred sixteen respondents comprising of the top management from manufacturing SMEs had participated in this study. SmartPLS 2.0 (M3) was employed to examine the hypothesised relationships between knowledge management and organisational performance. The results revealed that among the four knowledge management capabilities, only knowledge acquisition and protection had a significant positive relationship with organisational performance, whereas knowledge conversion and application had not. Implications, limitations as well as directions for future research were further discussed.
Knowledge management (KM), a process of acquiring, converting, applying, and protecting knowledge assets, is crucial for value creation. The purpose of this research is to empirically test the relationship between KM processes (knowledge acquisition, knowledge conversion, knowledge application, and knowledge protection), entrepreneurial orientation (EO), and firm performance. Data were collected from 159 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia using a cross-sectional survey. This research uses partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and WarpPLS version 7.0 to test the model. The results show that three of four KM dimensions: knowledge acquisition, knowledge conversion, and knowledge protection are positively related to performance. Moreover, EO has been found to moderate the relationship between knowledge application and performance positively.
Public transportation is an effective method of mobility that promotes cost-saving and is environmentally friendly. Poor public transport ridership in Malaysia is due to the unsatisfactory attitude of public transport users and inaccurate information on departure and arrivals. Sarawak, a state of Malaysia, is especially poor in ridership of public transport. A real-time Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking application (app) was found to be an effective tool to increase the ridership of public transport. Hence, a mobile app named UniBus was developed to enhance the ridership of public transport in Sarawak. The determinants that affect satisfaction and customer loyalty such as accessibility, reliability, comfort, safety, and security were all examined before and after the use of real-time GPS tracking app. The data was collected in Kuching, and targeted public transport users who used the UniBus app. The result indicated that all the mentioned variables were improved after using a real-time GPS tracking app. It is suggested that future studies can consider other factors such as service quality, availability, and perceived value as well as cover other states of Malaysia.
This study aims to investigate the relationship between market orientation and innovativeness, and the moderating effects of market turbulence in the context of Malaysian SMEs. Market orientation comprises three dimensional constructs, the customer orientation, competitor orientation, and interfuncional coordination. Data was gathered through self-administered questionnaires and a total of 180 respondents comprising owners and managers of small and medium sized enterprises participated in this study. Smart PLS 2.0 (M3) was employed to assess the proposed model through path modelling and bootstrapping technique. The results showed that customer orientation, competitor orientation and interfunctional coordination are positively related to innovativeness. Also, market turbulence was found to have moderated the relationship between customer orientation and innovativeness. Interestingly, the findings revealed that market turbulence negatively moderated the relationship between interfunctional coordination and innovativeness. Implications of the findings, limitations of the study and directions for future research are further discussed.
Public transport (PT) continues to receive much attention from many countries as a means to reduce traffic congestion, accident, and pollution. Moreover, PT can boost mobility, physical and social leisure activities for the public. To enhance PT ridership, it is important to enhance its customer loyalty. This study is designed to examine the interrelationships between factors such as accessibility, availability, reliability, comfortability, and safety and security, satisfaction, and loyalty. A total of 179 respondents participated in this study. Partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used for data analysis. The results show that availability, safety and security are positively related to user satisfaction. Moreover, satisfaction has been found to be positively related to loyalty. These results suggest that practitioners should focus on availability and safety and security which can enhance satisfaction followed by loyalty. Scholars are recommended to further study other variables which can impact on satisfaction and loyalty.
