Approximately 30% of women experience severe and persistent low back labor pain. 1 Labor pain is considered to be the most severe pain throughout a woman's life. The main causes of labor pain include muscular hypoxia, pelvic pressure, lactic acidosis, lower uterine segment distention, and ligament stretching, 2 with some women being unable to tolerate this pain and requesting an elective cesarean delivery. The experience of severe labor pain might result in longer-term negative effects such as psychological vulnerability and postpartum depression. 3,4 It is critical to develop a standardized therapy for the treatment of low back labor pain.
