Neste estudo qualitativo, utilizamos a entrevista consentida semiestruturada. Abstract ResumenThis research aimed to understand the child's experiences with Chronic Renal Insufficiency and analyze the significance it attaches to this experience. As a theoretical and methodological reference, it has been used, respectively, the Symbolic Interactionism and the Grounded Theory. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect the data, allowing us to explore the definitions exposed by each child. There were eight children interviewed, between the ages of seven and fourteen years old. Eight conceptual categories emerged that outlined the child's psychological changes when confronted with the disease: "Discovering the disease", "Suffering Daily Changes", "Feeling that he or she is being a burden to others", "Suffering with other problems", "Trying to get used to it", "Making himself equal to other children", "Not being strong enough" and "Planning the future". The process of adapting to a chronic disease during childhood is very complex and it changes as the child and his family, overcome the previous obstacles. Listening to the child is very important for us to identify his needs and to assure compassionate assistance.
The development of distance education is associated with the popularization and democratization of the accessibility to information and communication technologies. Nursing has been using this modality of education in both undergraduate and graduate courses, which has provided knowledge about other technologies, an easier accessibility, flexibility of time and space, and reduced costs. The objective of this study is map the national higher education distance nursing courses. This exploratory, descriptive study was developed by visiting governmental, non-governmental and institutional websites. Two undergraduate and nine graduate courses in nursing were found, which is considered to be a low number, considering that distance education is an appropriate pedagogical tool that permits to prepare a large number of nurses who are geographically dispersed and who do not have access to the conventional educational processes.
Cochlear implantation changes the direction of the child and the family's life by restoring the child's opportunity to hear and to obtain good results in her personal, social, and academic development. Even after implantation, the child continues to experience difficulties and requires the family's mobilization in order to be successful. The family is the principal actor in the process of the child's rehabilitation.
Objectiveto understand the meanings the family attributes to the phases of the decision-making process on a cochlear implant for their child. Methodqualitative research, using Symbolic Interactionism and Grounded Theory as the theoretical and methodological frameworks, respectively. Data collection instrument: semistructured interview. Nine families participated in the study (32 participants). Resultsknowledge deficit, difficulties to contextualize benefits and risks and fear are some factors that make this process difficult. Experiences deriving from interactions with health professionals, other cochlear implant users and their relatives strengthen decision making in favor of the implant. Conclusiondeciding on whether or not to have the implant involves a complex process, in which the family needs to weigh gains and losses, experience feelings of accountability and guilt, besides overcoming the risk aversion. Hence, this demands cautious preparation and knowledge from the professionals involved in this intervention.
