Here, we describe the sighting of Philodryas nattereri preying on a Tropidurus hispidus lizard in Sento-Sé – Bahia, Brazil, located in the central portion of the Caatinga, in a high priority conservation area of the biome. The event was observed in April 2021. This study provides information on the diet of this animal in the Caatinga biome. It thus provides another account of the natural history of snakes, which in itself is a valuable contribution to scientific knowledge since little is known about these animals due to their rarity in nature.
With a vast estuarine area, south of Bahia holds resources coveted by man. Estuaries add several ecological dynamics that contribute significantly to ecosystem balance, bringing valuable resources sustainable community. Currently these resources are being exploited dramatically disorderly and local communities are the first to be affected. Understanding the ecological behavior of biotic communities in estuaries, identifies environmental strategies for a balanced exploitation of these ecosystems. This study aims to understand the geochemical parameters and cladocerans community of river estuaries Una / Una and river Jequitinhonha / Belmonte-Bahia and understand their behavior at home estuary. Samples were collected in the dry season-October / 2012 and in the rainy season-May / 2013, always starting at the lowest tide height aimed at collecting estenoalinas species. We determined the following variables: temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, salinity, redox potential, conductivity, turbidity, and total dissolved solids with the use of multiparameter probe. Nickel metal, copper, cadmium, lead and chromium in water and particulate matter were determined according to Standard Methods (2012). And of cladocerans adults quali-quantitation following the taxonomic references published. The estuary of the river Jequitinhonha had reduced salinity where the river flows in the collection period, led to a higher occurrence of 15 species of cladocerans. The estuaries of the river Una and Jequitinhonha both presented mostly for metals, the most representative values in the dry campaign where the Cr and Cu achieved even higher levels than the others. The physical and chemical conditions of the Jequitinhonha reflect consistent behavior with the estuarine dynamics, but the metal values traces the MPS suggest research since they are two river basins with reduced human impact. I note that both stretches are likely to receive all anthropic contribution of high and middle reaches of the basin, but these indices should be monitored for environmental control of these ecosystems. The four species econtradas for Una revealed that cladocerans sampling in this environment requires a greater effort, or a different design than was relizado in order to achieve data representative of the existing community. The 15 taxa found in the Jequitinhonha represent a significant record for the cladocerans community this basin. This study was able to represent the diversity of the area.
RESUMOCom uma vasta área estuarina, o sul da Bahia (Brasil) detém amplos recursos naturais. Os estuários agregam diversas dinâmicas ecológicas que contribuem significativamente no equilíbrio do ecossistema, trazendo à comunidade recursos sustentáveis valiosos. Atualmente esses recursos vêm sendo drasticamente explorados desordenadamente, e comunidades locais são as primeiras a serem prejudicadas. Entender e conhecer o comportamento geoquímico estuarino permite identificar estratégias ambientais, para uma exploração equilibrada desses ecossistemas. O presente trabalho teve o objetivo de caracterizar geoquimicamente o baixo curso do Rio Una através da análise dos parâmetros físico-químicos na água (temperatura, pH, oxigênio dissolvido, salinidade, Eh, conductividade, turbidez e sólidos totais dissolvidos) e metais (Ni, Cu, Cd, Pb e Cr) na água e no material particulado em suspensão. As amostras foram coletadas no período da seca em outubro de 2012 e na estação chuvosa em maio de 2013. Os maiores valores dos metais foram de Ni, Cu e Pb no material particulado em suspensão. O Cd foi o único elemento traço presente na fração dissolvida, o que indica uma possibilidade de contaminação da água em decorrência das atividades antrópicas circunvizinhas. Em geral, os valores de metais traço são considerados altos, quando comparados com os índices estabelecidos para sedimento.
