Este artículo presenta el desarrollo de una experiencia interdisciplinaria de un equipo de investigadoras de la Universidad de la República (Uruguay) con foco en los derechos humanos de las mujeres prisioneras en el país. La reflexión se sustenta en dos ámbitos de trabajo: un curso con operadores y policías penitenciarios y un taller de “formación de formadoras” con mujeres recluidas en la Unidad Nº 5. A lo largo del texto se problematizan de qué modo el giro punitivo en el país, el concepto de mujer y la relación con la alteridad se encuentran con un abordaje académico feminista.
