Este artigo apresenta uma reflexão crítica acerca do canto II da Ilíada, especificamente os versos 198 a 226, centrados na personagem Tersites. Esse trecho é alvo de polêmica teórica acerca de tratar-se o conflito entre o referido soldado e os chefes da armada como um embate entre classes sociais distintas. A partir de uma perspectiva materialista histórica, propomo-nos a defender uma abordagem do embate pelo viés de classe e de luta de classes sociais como cerne de sua dinâmica.
Este artigo analisa a imbricação entre literatura e economia em um poema de Carlos Drummond de Andrade. Trata-se de “Lira Itabirana”, publicado em 1983 em um jornal, mas que nunca chegou a ser editado em livro. O poema, então pouco conhecido, ganhou notoriedade após dois catastróficos rompimentos de barragens de rejeitos da mineradora Vale S.A., em 2015 e 2019, no estado de Minas Gerais, berço de Drummond. Não obstante sua atualidade, a temática original do poema se relaciona à crise econômica e aoendividamento do Estado brasileiro durante a ditadura civil militar que vigorou por duas décadas no país.
Nem só de signos macambúzios se faz um ano. Mesmo nestes tristes tempos. Em meio às catástrofes continuadas que demarcam o 2021 que se encerra, também encontramos espaço para celebrar -afirmação arquetípica de (re)existência -o legado de um dos maiores pensadores latino-americanos de todos os tempos: Paulo Freire, patrono da educação brasileira.
O presente trabalho apresenta uma reflexão crítica acerca da articulação do mito na Iª Olímpica de Píndaro sob a perspectiva do materialismo histórico. Para uma apropriada delimitação do objeto analisado, apresentamos, inicialmente, uma análise de dados biográficos do poeta tebano, seguida por uma apreciação geral da lírica coral na Grécia antiga e a caracterização e relevância dos jogos pan-helênicos no contexto do poeta. Por fim, propomos uma breve discussão sobre o trato dispensado ao mito no poema em questão, considerando alguns de seus aspectos e implicações ideológicas, bem como a indissociabilidade dos elementos mítico-religiosos para com a base material que os engendra.
