RESUMOO trauma facial é uma situação clínica que pode apresentar-se como um quadro de urgência e/ou emergência no cotidiano das unidades de pronto atendimento e hospitais do mundo inteiro, principalmente em localidades com altos índices de violência e infrações de trânsito. Objetivo: avaliar a prevalência das fraturas dos ossos da face na população brasileira a partir de estudos epidemiológicos dos últimos 5 anos, sendo analisados os fatores relacionados a ocorrência do trauma, correlacionando informações de etiologia, gênero, idade e região óssea atingida. Metodologia: Esse estudo configurase na forma de revisão de integrativa, elucidado de forma descritiva com análise de prevalência do trauma no complexo maxilofacial e fatores clinico-epidemiológicos na população brasileira (etiologia, localização, frequência, classificação e gênero). A seleção dos artigos para a composição da amostra foi realizada a partir das bases de dados da SCIELO e PUBMED utilizando descritores nos idiomas inglês e português, a partir do ano 2015. Resultados: O principal fator etiológico relacionado as fraturas foram os acidentes de trânsito (15 artigos, 83,3%) que compreendem também os acidentes automobilísticos e motociclísticos, em segundo lugar foram as agressões físicas (03 artigos, 16,6%), acidentes esportivos, quedas e acidentes de trabalho também foram mencionados. Os ossos mais fraturados foram a mandíbula, seguido do complexo zigomático e os ossos nasais. Conclusão: Através deste estudo podemos concluir que o perfil epidemiológico dos pacientes vítimas de fraturas no complexo maxilofacial é constituído por homens com idade dentro da segunda e quarta década de vida, envolvidos em acidentes de trânsito, conduzindo motocicletas, sendo o osso mandibular o osso mais acometido de fratura dentre os ossos da face.

As principais formas de transmissão do Coronavírus - COVID-19 se dão pelo contato com aerossóis gerados pelas vias respiratórias superiores e cavidade oral de pessoas contaminadas, condição que coloca o Cirurgião Bucomaxilofacial como um dos profissionais mais expostos a contaminação. O atendimento das afecções maxilofaciais traumáticas e não traumáticas demandam pela adoção de novos protocolos de biossegurança frente ao manejo desses casos. O objetivo deste estudo é elaborar um protocolo de biossegurança voltado para a prática da Cirurgia e Traumatologia Buco-Maxilo-facial no contexto da pandemia do COVID-19, por meio de uma revisão integrativa da literatura. Metodologia: O presente trabalho trata-se de um estudo transversal descritivo sob a forma de revisão integrativa da literatura, para compor a amostra foram selecionados artigos com tema voltado a atuação do cirurgião Bucomaxilofacial no contexto da pandemia do covid-19. As bases de pesquisa foram a SCIELO Scientific Electronic Library Online – SCIELO e Public medline - PUBMED, nos idiomas português e inglês. Conclusão: O uso de equipamentos de proteção individual juntamente com um manejo seguro em todas as fases do atendimento, bem como, a estratificação do atendimento de acordo com a severidade dos casos são estratégias mais viáveis neste momento, no âmbito intra-hospitalar. Medidas de saúde coletiva, tais como, o isolamento social, uso de máscaras, o maior rigor com higiene pessoal, sobretudo, das mãos e do contato direto entre os indivíduos juntamente com o início de estudos para o desenvolvimento de vacinas também são de suma importância para diminuir a incidências dos casos.
Os tumores odontogênicos elencam um grupo heterogêneo e complexo de patologias com diferentes manifestações clínicas e histológicas, em sua grande maioria são neoplasias benignas resultantes da proliferação de células dos tecidos da odontogênese. Objetivo: realizar uma análise de prevalência dos principais tumores benignos do complexo maxilofacial tendo como base a nomenclatura atual da OMS por meio de uma revisão de integrativa da literatura. Metodologia: este trabalho configura-se como uma revisão integrativa da literatura, o acervo bibliográfico é formado por uma amostra de conveniência de artigos indexados nas bases do PUBMED (Public Medline) e SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) publicados a partir de 2015, nos idiomas inglês e português. Resultados: de acordo com a análise dos 15 artigos evidenciou-se que o gênero masculino é o mais acometido por tumores odontogênicos em uma proporção de até 3:1 em ralação ao gênero feminino, tendo a mandíbula como o sítio anatômico mais afetado por estas lesões, com relação a idade observou-se que a terceira e quarta década de vida são as faixas etárias mais comuns no momento do diagnóstico dos tumores, sendo o tumor de maior prevalência de acordo com os estudos, o Ameloblastoma. Conclusão: de acordo com a pesquisa podemos concluir que os tumores odontogênicos se apresentam como um grupo heterogêneo de lesões, sendo o Ameloblastoma o tumor odontogênico benigno de maior prevalência na literatura.
O osso frontal compõe a região anterior do crânio e suas principais funções são proteger o encéfalo de traumas diretos e infecções. Na ocorrência de perda de parte desse osso, há uma desarmonia funcional e anatômica, sendo indicada sua reconstrução. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar um relato de cranioplastia de osso frontal, decorrente de uma craniectomia descompressiva de urgência, utilizando como material a malha de titânio. Relato do caso: Paciente do gênero masculino, 32 anos, apresentou-se ao serviço de cirurgia bucomaxilofacial do Hospital Universitário da Universidade Federal do Piauí com queixa de “sofri um acidente e afundou meu rosto”. Vítima de acidente motociclístico há cerca de 12 meses antes da consulta citada, foi submetido à uma cirurgia do tipo craniectomia descompressiva, onde foi removido parte do seguimento ósseo frontal cominuído durante o trauma, permanecendo com defeito ósseo resultante da abordagem neurocirúrgica, abrangendo as corticais externa e interna do osso frontal. A partir da queixa principal, resultados dos exames clínico e de imagem foi proposto a cranioplastia para recontrução do osso frontal com malha de titânio. Para o embasamento teórico do caso foi realizado levantamento bibliográfico acerca do tema na base PubMed, utilizando os descritores: Fratura do crânio com afundamento; Osso frontal; Titânio, foram selecionados artigos que apresentaram discussão referente à escolha do material de reconstrução. Resultados: a instalação e adaptação da malha de titanio possibilitou a correção do defeito na região frontal, favorecendo a proteção do encefalo e restabelecendo a estética do terco superior da face. Conclusão: Diversos materiais de reconstrução são citados na literatura, entretanto, nenhum contempla todas as caracteristicas ideaias para todos os casos.O titânio é considerado uma excelente opção em termos de força, baixos índices de infecção, alta biocompatibilidade e por ser biologicamente inerte. A cranioplastia para reconstrução do osso frontal possibilita o restabelecimento estético e funcional nos casos de defeitos extensos onde a perda do arcabouço de proteção do encefalo além de alteração do contorno do terco superior da face gera tambem uma suceptibilidade a injúrias das estruturas intracranianas.
