El ensayo “Medios que usted sugiere…” (1938) de la escritora costarricense, Yolanda Oreamuno, ha sido una referencia importante en la comprensión del pensamiento de la autora y de sus posiciones respecto de la situación de la mujer y del feminismo. En él, la autora lanza cuestionamientos y críticas importantes sobre la educación costarricense y el rol social de las mujeres; sin embargo, es posible constatar divergencias en las opiniones críticas sobre la solidez del pensamiento desarrollado en este. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la construcción teórico-argumentativa del ensayo a la luz del contexto del movimiento feminista de la época y de la noción de “frivolidad ambiente” utilizada por Oreamuno. El análisis permite una comprensión más detallada de las ideas, a veces contradictorias, defendidas respecto de la educación femenina y la relación compleja de la autora con el movimiento feminista de la década de 1930 en Costa Rica.
