Preparation of Iodide-Selective Carbon Paste Electrode Based on Palladium ComplexesKeywords Carbon paste electrode, Iodide-selective electrode, Potentiometry, Palladium complexes Abstract: New carbon paste iodide-selective electrodes based on palladium complexes named as dibromo[1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene] palladium(II) (ionophore I) and dichloro[1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene] palladium(II) (ionophore II) were developed. The electrodes, prepared with optimum carbon paste composition by using ionophore I and II exhibited linear response with slopes of −43.2 ± 0.6 and −43.8 ± 0.6 mV/pI, detection limits of 3.5×10 −6 M and 2.9×10 −6 M at pH 4.0 over the concentration range of 1.0×10 −5 − 1.0×10 −1 M and 1.0×10 −6 − 1.0 × 10 −1 M, respectively. The proposed electrodes were found to have short response times, lifetime of three months, good reproducibility and repeatability. Moreover, the electrodes were successfully used as an indicator electrode for the potentiometric determination of iodide in an iodide containing drug sample.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
