Background: Motivation is an important issue for personnel management in health care settings, as it is related to both performance and intention to quit. Objectives: The study was aimed to determine nurses' working motivation sources and related factors in hospitals. Design: Descriptive study. Settings: A state university hospital and a public hospital in Turkey. Participants: Two hundred and two nurses were randomly selected from each department in a university and in a public hospital. Methods: Data were collected using a socio-demographic questionnaire and the Motivation Sources Inventory and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Among five motivation sources, internal self-concept-based motivation was the highest and intrinsic process motivation was the lowest in nurses. There was a significant relation between scores of some motivation sources and managerial experience, income level, satisfaction from the unit, staff roles, and perception of work stress. Conclusions: Intrinsic process motivation, instrumental motivation, and external self-concept-based motivation sources may be improved to increase nurses' total motivation.

Sistematik derleme kapsamında değerlendirmeye alınan çalışmaların ikisinin İran'da, birinin Türkiye'de yapıldığı, PLISSIT modeli ile bakım verilen hasta grubunun stomalı bireyler ve cinsel problem yaşayan kadınlar ile sınırlı kaldığı görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte PLISSIT modeli ile verilen bakımın cinsel fonksiyonlarını iyileştirdiği, cinsel stresi azalttığı, cinsel isteği, cinsel uyarılmayı, lubrikasyonu, orgazmı, cinsel doyumu ve cinsel aktivite sıklığını artırdığı bulunmuştur.Anahtar sözcükler: Care, sexuality, sexual dysfunction. AbstractThis systematic review study aims to determine the effect of PLISSIT model (permission, limited information, special suggestions, intensive therapy) in the care of individuals having sexual problems. Two of the studies included in the systematic review have been carried out in Iran and one of them in Turkey. These studies were limited to the patients with stoma and women having sexual problems. Results presented that care via PLISSIT model improves the sexual functions and reduces sexual stress, increases the sexual desire, sexual arousal, lubrication, orgasm, sexual satisfaction and frequency of sexual activity.

AIM: To identify factors associated with trait anger and anger expression style in adolescents with chronic disease. METHODS: The study was included 68 adolescents aged between 10-19 years, who were admitted to the clinic in a university hospital in 2008 after being diagnosed with diabetes, leukemia and chronic kidney failure. As a means of pooling data, “Demographic Questionnaire” and “The State-Trait Anger Scale” were used. RESULTS: Of 68 adolescents participating into the research, 33 were early adolescents (48.5%), 23 were middle adolescents (33.8%) and 12 were late adolescents (17.6%). Mean scores were calculated as 23.1±7.2 for trait anger, as 15.9±5.1 for anger kept-in, as 17.0±5.8 for anger kept-out, and as 19.6±5.9 for anger control. There were significant relationships between the anger status of adolescents, and attitude of parent, employment of the adolescent, knowledge level of the adolescents about the treatment of their diseases and school performance level. CONCLUSION: It has been concluded that improving parental attitudes, employment of the adolescent, rising in school performance, and informing adolescents about the treatment of their diseases might help to control anger in adolescents with chronic diseases.
