A acuidade na percepção da comunicação não-verbal é essencial para a qualidade da relação médico-paciente. O objetivo foi avaliar a importância da comunicação não verbal na relação médico-paciente, na Unidade Básica de Saúde da Universidade Federal do Amapá e permitir que profissionais médicos e estudantes da área possam reconhecer a influência desta comunicação no atendimento. Realizou-se um estudo transversal, descritivo e analítico. A pesquisa foi feita a partir da aplicação de um questionário feito na escala likert de 5 pontos baseado na importância composto por 15 perguntas, dividido em duas partes: parte I (dados pessoais) e parte II sobre a comunicação não-verbal (aparência, atitudes, comportamentos, etc). Quanto aos resultados, sobre a aparência, 90% dos entrevistados relataram importância no uso da cor branca e 93,3%, do uso do jaleco. Em relação às atitudes, 100% dos entrevistados destacaram a importância do cumprimento e apresentação por parte do médico e 96,6% identificaram o contato visual como atitude importante. Conclui-se que a aparência do médico, transmite a noção de confiabilidade e competência na avaliação do paciente.
