R ecientemente hemos puesto nuestro catálogo en línea a través de Open Journal System (OJS), un sistema de código abierto diseñado para la publicación y gestión de revistas de acceso libre. Desarrollado por el Public Knowledge Project (PKP) este sistema facilita el flujo editorial y la presentación de artículos.Por otra parte, hemos incorporado el uso del DOI (Digital Object Identifier) para los trabajos que se publiquen en nuestra revista, a modo de facilitar su búsqueda e identificación en la web mediante un enlace permanente para cada artículo. Estas incorporaciones se suman a nuestro interés por estar presente en diferentes repositorios académicos nacionales y latinoamericanos, a modo de llegar a la mayor cantidad de lectores posibles.Junto con la prevención de involucrarnos en las métricas productivas o ranking de las revistas, cuando se desvían de la colaboración crítica y pública para atender vicios editoriales competitivos de carácter corporativo, trabajamos la promoción de un espacio de discusión entre medicina, salud colectiva y el mundo social, con la convicción de sumarnos a ciertos estándares de difusión que contribuyan a visibilizar de mejor forma los debates y aportes que aquí se generen.Con pensamiento colectivo de retaguardia, también buscamos la vanguardia de las revistas de acceso abierto revisadas por pares, es decir, con disponibilidad en línea de forma gratuita y sin restricciones, conforme a las recomendaciones de la Budapest open access initiative (1), bajo el concepto de ciencia abierta impulsado por la UNESCO, como uno de los elementos centrales en el desarrollo sostenible (2).Nuestra revista está exenta de pagos, tanto para lectores como para los autores, para incentivar la presencia de la mayor cantidad de voces posibles a la hora de abordar la temática de medicina y la sociedad.No podemos conformarnos con ser sólo un espacio de debate, aspiramos a ser un espacio de encuentro, donde las opiniones disímiles compartan también los puntos en común; y de esta forma generar un diálogo fructífero entre distintas disciplinas y campos de acción en salud, que a su vez reconozca el valor de la retórica como ejercicio de letras y textos en permanente reconfiguración.Para lograr esto debemos facilitar nuestra tribuna a los diferentes actores, con sus diferentes experiencias, bajo principios de inclusión, equidad y colaboración. De esta manera, "la carga" que supone colocar nuestros debates en una vitrina con estándares modernos, permitirá una adecuada visibilización que fomente la colaboración nacional e internacional, interdisciplinaria y con la mayor cantidad de agentes sociales posibles.Asumimos este desafío como equipo editorial, bajo el alero del Colegio Médico, con el anhelo de recomponer el vínculo entre la medicina y el mundo social como objetivo fundante de nuestra revista.
