La oleada de protestas de octubre de 2019 en Chile ha sido descrita como un fenómeno de carácter espontáneo y acéfalo en su organización. Sin embargo, una observación detallada permite evidenciar el rol activo que tuvieron organizaciones sindicales. Para comprender su rol específico en la revuelta, esta investigación estudia cómo los recursos de poder sindical repercutieron sobre la fuerza que tuvo la huelga general del 12 de noviembre en el escenario político. Los resultados sugieren que el éxito de la huelga se basó en el recurso asociativo por la participación extraordinaria de trabajadores de diversos sectores de la economía, y en el recurso societal por la alianza con otros actores que aportaron masividad a las movilizaciones, generando una presión que llevó al sistema político a abrirse a un proceso constituyente, y reafirmando la relevancia del sindicalismo y las huelgas como principal táctica reivindicativa en un contexto de movilizaciones sociales.
