Este artículo presenta un análisis del estado de la comunicación indígena en América Latina con un enfoque etnográfico y comparativo basado en seis estudios de caso: México, Guatemala, Panamá, Colombia, Bolivia y Argentina. Nuestro estudio se ocupa de la situación de los «paisajes mediáticos», es decir, la proliferación de medios de comunicación tecnológica en cada contexto, sus usos sociales efectivos y sus transformaciones en el tiempo. Para ello destacamos tres aspectos analíticos: 1) las innovaciones en la comunicación indígena, las cuales han pasado de un énfasis en la apropiación tecnológica a la necesidad de su incorporación como valor cultural, así como un cambio de énfasis en la «resistencia» a la idea de «descolonización» de los medios, 2) las características que definen la comunicación indígena, y 3) la constatación de su heterogeneidad e implicación en realidades sociales y políticas concretas y locales.
RESUMEN Las experiencias afectivas con la muerte de los niños y niñas de Sumapaz (localidad rural del distrito capital de Bogotá, Colombia) hunden sus raíces sociales en la violencia, el silencio y la desconfianza que han caracterizado el territorio.Este artículo analiza las implicaciones metodológicas que tiene la aproximación etnográfica al investigar sobre las emociones de la muerte con niños y niñas de Sumapaz, con edades entre 9 y 12 años, en contexto de (pos)conflicto. El carácter 13 5 reflexivo etnográfico me permitió un posicionamlento personal y emocional sobre • lo que significa hacer etnografía con niños y niñas. Las reflexiones planteadas giran en torno a los problemas éticos y metodológicos sobre el silencio de los niños y lo intrusivo de preguntarles sobre experiencias personales con la muerte.
El objetivo de este artículo es contribuir al análisis del cine indígena haciendo énfasis en su circulación y consumo en los festivales indígenas. Para ello partimos de un estudio etnográfico de dos festivales celebrados en 2018 (Daupará en Colombia y Jumara en Panamá), centrado en cómo se performa lo indígena en estos eventos. Lo que trataremos de argumentar es que una etnografía de los festivales indígenas nos permite acercarnos a unas puestas en escena que muestran cómo se está configurando lo indígena en la modernidad. Estos festivales tienen tres dimensiones: 1) constituyen una performance de lo indígena a través del cuerpo y la palabra. 2) revelan unas formas de organización interna que muestran un tejido social y político relacionado con linajes y liderazgos al interior de los grupos que organizan los festivales. 3) permiten entender cómo se configura lo indígena no sólo en relación con los propios territorios concretos de cada grupo, sino también a partir de unos intercambios y unas agendas globales.
La producción y circulación de cine indígena en la Sierra Ne-vada de Santa Marta (Colombia), ha configurado masculi-nidades indígenas que se vinculan con la imagen mítica del murciélago. Los medios indígenas han permitido consolidar redes nacionales y trasnacionales que constituyen unas cos-mopolíticas que condensan temas relacionados con ser indí-gena, el territorio, la cultura y la política de las imágenes. En este artículo, se discute la repatriación de los archivos visuales del Marqués de Waverin, al pueblo arhuaco en la que aparece el líder Juan Bautista Villafaña (Duane) en los años treinta del siglo XX, padre del documentalista arhuaco Amado Villafaña. La repatriación de estas imágenes, es también una forma de acción política que se relaciona con la construcción de unos reclamos en torno a la soberanía visual y la propiedad colec-tiva, que les permite a los pueblos indígenas la posibilidad de (re)interpretar su memoria cultural; un terreno en permanente disputa.
