The influences of climatic factors (temperature, light intensity, and relative humidity) on the external activity of Tetragonisca angustula (jatai) was studied. The study of the regression and correlation analysis suggested that temperature, light intensity, and relative humidity, in this order, were important in determining the actual flight of the bees. The interaction between temperature and light intensity was probably the main factor determining flight activity, since Tetragonisca angustula would not leave the hive at low temperatures even though there was good light intensity.
SUMMARYThose honeys which were microscopically analysed presented a reasonably large number of pollen forms — a total of 55 in 23 samples. The pollen spectrum analysis of two colonies observed indicated that the bees from these colonies were attracted by the same floral supplies, though in different places, at a distance of around 140 meters from one another. The majority of the pollen grains were classified as isolated pollen. In the dominant pollen class were included : Alchornia triplinervia, Eucalyptus robusta, Petroselinum hortense and Schinus terebinthifolius. Included among the plant species classified as accessory pollen yielders were, for example : Bidens sp
