Este artigo tem como objetivo comparar o desempenho, através de determinados indicadores financeiros, entre empresas listadas no Guia das 500 maiores e melhores empresas da Revista Exame que fazem parte do Índice de Sustentabilidade Empresarial (ISE) e das empresas que não fazem. O principal objetivo do ISE é constatar o retorno de uma carteira composta por ações de empresas comprometidas com a responsabilidade social e a sustentabilidade empresarial. Essa pesquisa classifica-se como sendo descritiva e predominantemente qualitativa. Os indicadores financeiros analisados nessa pesquisa foram: Vendas (em valor e crescimento), Lucro Líquido, Rentabilidade, Capital Circulante Líquido, Liquidez Geral, Endividamento Geral, Endividamento de Longo Prazo, EBITDA e Indicadores de exportação. Após a análise pode-se concluir que as empresas que participam do ISE possuem maior potencial de vendas e exportação. Empresas que não fazem parte do ISE apresentam melhor desempenho financeiro.
