BACKGROUND In India, Emergency Obstetric Care services were started under RCH-II with the goal to reduce MMR to less than 100/lakh live births, and increase institutional deliveries to 80% by 2010. Strategy was to enhance availability and access to EmOC, for averting unpredictable death during pregnancy and childbirth. We wanted to determine the perception of beneficiary women about accessibility and utilization pattern of EmOC at peripheral health care facilities. METHODS The present qualitative study was conducted in one of the eight blocks of Wardha (Maharashtra) from May to October-2017. Data was collected by in-depth interview of service users (21 beneficiaries). Notes were transcribed and then translated into English. Respondents' verbatim that are significant and illustrative as per theme of study were used for analysis. RESULTS Facilitators for EmOC were found to be birth preparedness, promotion of institutional delivery, registration for JSY/JSSK through health workers along with provision of some EmOC services. Socio-cultural beliefs, leading to delay in recognition of danger signals to access care, transportation delay due to poor access of ambulance and identified vehicles along with insufficient coverage of JSSK program, were the main barriers. Beneficiaries who required EmOC were dissatisfied due to frequent referral & travelling, expenditure on transport & food, loss of daily wages, managing dependent family members and domestic work. CONCLUSIONS Needy women failed to receive the timely and quality EmOC services at periphery due to delayed decision making, inadequate free transport facility from health system, lack of trained staff and sufficient resources to manage difficult cases.
COVID-19 or coronavirus disease -2019 as named by World Health Organization has grappled the world since first case emerged from wet market of Wuhan in Hubei province , People's Republic of China. From the morphology of the virus which is crown in shape it is named so as coronavirus .From that day to now every aspect of human life is affected by the pandemic which was declared as it is by WHO in mid-march. Globalizations and inter-connectedness has been key factor in spreading the disease and transforming from outbreak to epidemic to pandemic which is severe than Spanish flu of 1918. Many countries-imposed lockdowns which are almost confining peoples to their homes resulting massive traffic on social networking sites forwarding the unverified and, in some cases, dangerous claims. So there is a need of counter information campaign to aware , educate the masses about the pandemic with authentic and tested information which will not only help people but also authorities to concentrate their focus on the pandemic and most awaited vaccine. The psychological impact on health professionals and other front line workers is must to study as these are the important arsenals to fight the exponentially growing pandemic. Meanwhile some anti-social activities against doctors such as evictions from societies, attacks etc. created more havoc and panic among the warriors. Every citizen is benefitting from the COVID-19 warriors whether at home or at hospitals. COVID-19 warriors need to be thanked for their eternal service to humanity. This article reflects on the related aspects of impact of COVID-19 on general population , healthcare facilities and frontline warriors.
W.H.O. declares corona virus outbreak a pandemic on 11th March, pandemic means every person on earth is prone to Covid-19. All the activities involving a large public gathering like social, educational, political, economic and many other sectors got affected School, colleges, workplaces had to be closed down temporarily to avoid further spreading of the disease. Educational programs worldwide have been affected by the COVID 19 pandemic, contributing to the almost complete closing of schools, universities, and colleges. This is the situation that made society very panic as well as very sensitive towards mankind. The mass effect of Covid -19 can be observed in all the sectors but more poorly affected to the economical and educational sector. In the education system a great change of delivering classes from traditional mode to modern, i.e., online education though there are advantages and disadvantages of its but in the present era this is the most needful requirement of the world. Covid 19 and Academics- Advantages and Disadvantages. Though COVID-19 has created many challenges, various new streams of opportunities are also coming out. Online education has grown over the last few years and has experienced mainstream acceptance. To develop a deeper understanding of degree courses students get to control their learning environment with an online class. New models and materials of learning are always springing up in the market, Due to this various opportunities for furnishing their study. The future of online degree education looks promising and opens up education to a larger section of the population than ever before.
COVID-19 is a sickness brought about by coronavirus responsible for causing simple to extreme complications in people. COVID-19 first case was seen in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, on December, 2019. The World Health Organization (WHO) to pronounce it as a worldwide pandemic on March 11, 2020, as the pandemic has spread quickly all through the world. Regardless of extensive endeavors made to contain the infection, the infection has proceeded with its pervasiveness in numerous nations with changing levels of clinical signs. Henceforth, in this report, we discuss the various strategies, for example, serological and nucleic acid-based procedures which are accessible for the determination and successful counteraction of coronavirus. With expanding the rate of coronavirus cases, the precise and early identification of the COVID-19 is the need of great importance for viable avoidance with treatment and just as to check its spread. Reverse transcriptase-real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) measures are viewed as the highest quality level for the early identification of infection. This diagnostic technique is being utilized worldwide with recommendations from WHO and Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Reverse transcriptase real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) is being done compulsory before any medical procedures and major surgeries for early detection, prevention, and management in due time course. Rapid antigen test is also a screening test used widely in hospitals for screening of COVID-19 and before the admission in hospitals. Other nucleic acid amplification test widely done for the detection of COVID-19 are RT-qPCR, next-generation sequencing, clustered regularly interspaced short pallindromic repeats, reverse transcription -loop-mediated isothermal amplification, droplet digital PCR. Some immunological tests are lateral flow, ELISA.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
