Este trabalho tem como objetivo resgatar os fundamentos e retratar a revisão da política monetária americana após a crise financeira internacional de 2007-2008, na medida em que essa crise evidenciou que importantes postulados do novo consenso macroeconômico foram postos em xeque. Através de um corte histórico, o presente trabalho busca discutir em que medida o mainstream revisa esse consenso e quais as reflexões e alternativas discutidas sobre a política de estabilização no contexto atual. Verificou-se que as revisões apontadas não abalaram a estrutura teórica deste consenso e que a utilização de instrumentos de política não convencionais foi justificada pelo impacto nefasto sobre a economia. A essência de suas hipóteses permanece, na medida em que o regime de metas de inflação continua sendo a referência para condução da política monetária americana e base guia para as demais políticas.
A elaboração do documento GTDN – Grupo de Trabalho para o Desenvolvimento do Nordeste – coordenado por Celso Furtado, foi um passo muito importante na árdua luta contra os problemas regionais brasileiros. A partir do seu diagnóstico e recomendações, foi instituída a SUDENE e as diretrizes, que serviriam de base para as políticas de desenvolvimento regional. Ao analisar este documento, foi possível constatar alguns elementos que convergem com a visão de desenvolvimento de Joseph Schumpeter. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo principal verificar em que medida a visão de desenvolvimento de Schumpeter converge com o GTDN, ou melhor, verificar as proposições em comum entre eles. Pretendendo também averiguar em que medida estas análises divergem, busca-se também identificar as críticas feitas por Furtado sobre a abordagem schumpeteriana.
