This chapter defines the small college setting and addresses the historical and current importance of understanding the work of the small college dean.
The author offers a case study of a collaborative effort to combine in‐ and out‐of‐class experiences at Indiana University, including a Freshman Interest Groups program, and highlights development of cross‐campus collaborations.
