Internet addiction (IA) is a relatively new subject of study in academia, and it has several effects on a person's life in a variety of ways, including academic achievement, relationships, physical and mental health. Aim: To describe the effect of internet addiction on academic achievement among primary school children. Research Design: A descriptive research design was used in the current study. Settings: The study was applied in two primary schools in Sohag City. The StudySample: A multi-stage random sample of 720 primary school children was recruited using a multi-stage random sample technique. Tools: There were three tools used in the current study, (I) demographic assessment tool, (II) Young's Internet addiction scale, and (III) academic achievement assessment tool. Results: more than half of the primary school children were female; the mean age them was 9.34 ± 1.64 years. Half of them spent 3-5 daily times on the internet. There was an association between internet addiction and academic achievement. The majority of primary school children agree to improve awareness about internet addiction and its effects through holding classes as proposed preventive interventions to reduce harm from IA. Conclusion: Excessive internet usage was shown to be one of the most common behaviors among primary school children, which can lead to addiction and harm their personal, social, and academic achievement. Recommendation: Children should be aware of the potentially detrimental effects of internet addiction, as well as the necessity to restrict internet usage, which can have a severe impact on kids' academic progress.
Children in the age group of 5 to 14 years constitute 30% of the total population. Children undergo a dynamic period of physical, mental, emotional, and social changes. These changes influence the child's overall development, specifically the academic and social outcomes. The aim was to evaluate the effect of educational guidelines on newly mothers' knowledge, practices regarding behavioral problems of children. Subjects and method: Design: A quasi-experimental research design was utilized to achieve the aim of this study. Setting: the study was conducted in the pediatric outpatient clinic at Mansoura University Hospital. Subjects: A purposive sample of 50 newly mothers were included. Three tools were used: Tool (I) an interview questionnaire, Tool (II) mothers ' knowledge regarding behavioral problems of children (pre/post), and Tool (III) mothers ' practice regarding behavioral problems of children (pre/post). Results: The study result showed that newly mothers' levels of knowledge regarding behavioral problems of children and practice have dramatically improved after the implementation of the educational guidelines with statistically significant differences between pre-post educational guidelines implementation. There were statistically significant relations between newly mothers' level of knowledge regarding behavioral problems of children and practice. Conclusion: The present study concluded that educational guidelines implementation had a positive effect on improving newly mothers' knowledge and practices regarding behavioral problems of children. Recommendations: The study recommended educational guidelines regarding behavioral problems of children should be conducted, discussed, integrated into the educational programs, and taught to the newly mothers using the booklet and illustrated pamphlets for each one to improve their knowledge and practices.

Context: A high alert medication (HAM) is a medication that causes serious harm if it is used in error. Neonatal nurses are responsible for administering HAMs; incorrect administration can significantly affect clinical outcomes. Aim: The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing guidelines on nurses' performance regarding HAMs at neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). Methods: A quasi-experimental design (pre/post-test) was utilized. The study was conducted at NICUs in Children's Hospital and Maternity and Gynecological Hospital affiliated to Ain Shams University. A convenience sample of 80 nurses caring for high-risk neonates was included in the current study from the previous setting for six months. Two tools were used to collect data. They are a structured interview questionnaire and nurses’ performance observational checklist. Results: The nurse's mean age was 27.79±6.83. 35% of them have worked part-time jobs. A highly statistically significant improvement was shown post-test compared to the pre-test regarding the nurses' knowledge and practices about HAMs at 0.001. Conclusion: The present study concludes that applying nursing guidelines interventions improved the neonatal nurses' knowledge and practice related to HAMs. The study recommended emphasizing the importance of using nursing guidelines of HAMs interventions for improving neonatal nurses' knowledge and practices at NICUs.
