The aim of this study has been appointed to find out the ratio of women’s sports get in Bangladeshi daily newspapers, the difference in coverage of men’s and women’s cricket, and identify the overall treatment of men’s and women’s cricket news coverage during the biggest events and explore why women’s cricket news is covered in such way. Regarding this, 44 days of news from two dailies of Bangladesh have been analyzed. Interview of cricket specialists is taken to find out why they cover men’s and women’s cricket differently. This study found out that men’s cricket is covered with great excitement and during the men’s cricket world cup, most of the sports news is related to this topic. Different segments to attract readers are also published during this time. On the other hand, women’s cricket is not covered sufficiently even during the women’s T20 world cup. Men’s cricket is prioritized at this time also. Experts said that women’s cricket is not very popular among audiences and commercial purposes are the reason behind this type of coverage of women’s cricket. But the change in this type of coverage and the steps of media can make a difference in the popularization of women’s cricket in Bangladesh.
Film or cinema is known as a powerful medium of communication across the world. As a result, the discussion of gender issues related to men and women in films has come up in various studies. The construction of women in the language of men in a patriarchal society results in women being seen in commercial films as neglected, omnipotent, male-dominated entities; Commodification of women is also noticeable in most cases. Because of this, it is not easy to find stories that glorify women and embody their power on the film screen. Several women filmmakers are working in the film world of Bangladesh. Therefore, it is important to see how the representation of women, women's aspirations, personal freedom, economic freedom and contribution are being highlighted in the films of domestic women producers. To find the self-identity of female characters, it is necessary to research the female gaze in films by women filmmakers. In this study the film Under Construction directed by Rubaiyat Hossain has been selected through purposive sampling using qualitative research method. Then the data obtained through the method of representation. This study shows that women have been searching for their identity in society for ages. The matter is still in process, women also want to stand tall as human beings but women are not able to come out easily from the enclosure of patriarchy. Modern day women are being stifled by tactics and cannot move forward without male support. Along with this, the trend of hindering the advancement of women by being a woman has also been observed. Women's struggle for economic independence and personal freedom continues under the control of men.
Students now have more access to online courses thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current study included high school students and aimed to comprehend the drivers behind smartphone use as well as the consequences of smartphone consumption. The school-based work in the sub-district area is not seen in that way, despite the fact that there are numerous forms of research on the use of mobile phones in the context of the city, college, or university. Bangladesh's upazila (subdistricts), in particular, do not have a lot of school-related work. The study uses a quantitative approach. In order to choose Jhikargacha Upazila of Jessore District, which is situated in the Southwest of Bangladesh, purposive sampling is utilized. Additionally, three schools were purposefully selected for data collection. A further offline survey was used to collect data, and SPSS version 24 was used to analyze the findings. In addition, the facts and context of smartphone usage are analyzed using the uses and gratification theory. Most participants claimed to use their smartphones for a range of purposes and to devote varying amounts of time to each. When the corona pandemic forces all educational activities to be conducted online, they are using cellphones. Additionally, certain changes in their daily routine have been brought about by using a smartphone. The media, which is a potent social system, has a significant impact on how people see reality. The idea that, in a broader cultural sense, the media mostly supported those values and standards that had already attained a broad consensus base, proved to be significant. People in Bangladesh's southwest use a variety of media to gather information. The objective of the study is to find out the pattern of media user in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. Uses and Gratification theory is used here, and a quantitative survey research design were used for this research. The study area includes the four districts of Bangladesh- Khulna, Jashore, Satkhira, and Bagerhat. Purposive and snowball sampling is used for this study. A standardized questionnaire was used to collect the data. Then the collected data are entered into the descriptive statistics module of SPSS using tools like tables, frequency counts, and simple. People in Bangladesh's southern region continue to consider that traditional media, such as television and newspapers, are more trustworthy information sources than social media or online portal. Due to their ample free time, the majority of adults consume media in the evening. Although it appears on the surface that the majority of people in Bangladesh's southern region utilize media for enjoyment, the reality is quite different. Major respondents concur that they are impacted by media. They think that biased information has been provided by the media. Also, according to the data, majority believes that local media coverage is insufficient.
