INTRODUCTION: Philadelphia has one of the highest neonatal mortality rates in the country. It is believed that stillbirth rates are closely associated with neonatal mortality rates. Modifiable risk factors associated with intrauterine fetal demise are population-specific. We conducted this study to identify appropriate population-specific modifiable risk factors to improve fetal and neonatal mortality rates. METHODS:A retrospective chart review study was preformed of 65 women that delivered at Temple University Health System with an intrauterine fetal demise at 28 weeks of gestation or greater between 2008 and 2013. Obstetric and demographic data were collected from charts and compared with a control group representing the general population in northeast Philadelphia.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
